DIY HERB WINDOW PLANTER

April 13, 2019

Someday, I will grow a single plant successfully. I'm one step closer with this cute little window box Seth made!

After an afternoon of work, I can now open my kitchen window, grab some herbs, and make a delicious home cooked meal. HA. hahahah.

Nonetheless, the planter is adorable and affordable. WIN!

Here's what you need:

Supplies

-3, 8 foot weather treated 1x6's

- A box of 2 inch wood screws

-8,  1 inch wood screws

-Your choice of wood stain (Be sure to use exterior stain)

-Mounting Brackets

Step 1:

Cut the boards into 5 foot sections. Cut two of the leftover pieces into 7 inch sections.

PS: We spaced and forgot to take pictures of him building it, so here's some suuuper realistic drawings. *Pats self on the back for being so professional*

 Step 2:

Put one 5 foot board down and screw the other five foot boards to the front and back of the board.

We're just building a box here people.

Step 3:

Screw the 7 inch end pieces on.

Step 4:

Attach the brackets to the box and to the wall, following the directions on the package.

Step 5:

Put a couple coats of stain on the exterior of the box, until you reach your desired finish.

Step 6:

Attach the planter to the exterior wall and fill with soil and plants!

This is an incredibly simple way to add some fresh garden goodness to your life and perfect for people without a yard.

Extra points if you write a sweet message on the side!
