I like to think of week 2 as a "foundation" week. I got the walls prepped and painted, ordered my decor, and got a board and batten supply list ready. In other words, week 2 was boring.
Boring, but necessary!
The walls are painted an off white with a peachy tint. (It looks more pink in photos than it is in real life!) I know it looks a little odd paired with those creamy/peachy floors, but don't fret; I've got big plans for those floors. That sounded a bit ominous. Don't worry, no harm will come to them. When ORC is over, I'm just planning on painting them to mimic Cement Tile. kind of like this:
I haven't looked into the process a ton, but I do know the cost to paint them will exceed my ORC budget, so this is a project I'm saving for later.
Even with the monochromatic wall and floor situation, the room is light-years better than it was before. Especially considering all the exciting details that are coming soon! Here's a quick reminder of the "before":
Side note, it's easy to get caught up in "Improve Everything Mode" that you forget to appreciate where you are in the process.
Is this room everything I hoped it would be yet? No.
Do I have exciting plans that involve moving plumbing and replacing the vanity? Yes.
But I refuse to let my excitement for what could be, steal the fun of what is right now.
Alright, now back to our regularly scheduled program. I ordered these sweet little planters last week and planned in advance that they'd hang in that awkward corner there:
Well, the other day as I was painting I looked up, and there on the ceiling was a hook, raring to go!
Either it's fate, or my subconscious noted the hook previously. Regardless, it's a win!
Next week, we get down to brass tacks on that board and batten! I'll share the process in my stories and in a post next Friday, so keep in touch!
If you missed the process, follow along here!
